The Italian will occupy the post of technical advisor of the Angeleno set. Return to activity after resign as coach of Real Madrid in March. The Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA franchise announced the hiring of the Italian Ettore Messina, officials of Real Madrid, as a technical consultant for the team. It is an honor to have received this opportunity by one of the best basketball in the world organizations, said the technician in a statement. Messina was appointed in 2008 one of the ten best coaches in the history of the Euroleague and was named coach of the year in 2006 and 2008. On 1 July the Californian team, John Black, spokesman acknowledged that there had been negotiations between the two sides but still no agreement had been reached.

We’ve talked with him but not we hired him, explained Black via email. If we do, we will announce it at the appropriate time, he added. Messina resigned as coach of Real Madrid on March 4, after the defeat wedged against the Montepaschi Siena (77-95) on the last day of the second phase of the Euroleague. Earlier this month the Lakers announced the hiring of Chuck Person and Quin Snyder as technical assistants Mike Brown, the new coach of the template after the farewell of Phil Jackson. Persona has worked as an Assistant for the Los Angeles Lakers over the last two campaigns, while Snyder spent last season as an Assistant at the Philadelphia 76ers.
